Thanks Anon! Now, with half the name, I can get the rest. It's a Hyperion Daylily, a variety from the 1920s. And fragrant, which I'll have to check this evening.
Did you know that daylillies are edible? If you have a big enough patch and don't mind losing a few flowers, the unopened buds are quite tasty - a little like green beans :)
