A New (to me) Apple Tree

It was wonderfully warm and sunny today, and I took a walk (more of a saunter) around the yard this morning. Looking through a high blueberry bush, over the broken remnants of old beehives, I saw some golden orbs - apples on a tree I hadn't really noticed before. Very easy to see now that the leaves are gone.

I went over and took a bite of one, and this is a type of apple I know by taste. Golden delicious. Yum.

  1. Don't you just love those kinds of discovery, I do. Now you will have another kind of apple for your cider making next year. Do you plan on pruning back all of you apple trees next year so that they will produce better in the future?

  2. Yes, I am going to prune them hard this year, but I'm not sure when to do it. I've heard some people say it should be now, and others say in early spring. Do you have apple trees?
