What Is the Secret??

There has GOT to be a secret to stretching hardware cloth so that when I attach it, it's all hard and straight, not all soft and ripply.  But for the love of God, I don't know what the secret is!  Is it one of those things I learn when they let me in to the secret you-can-build-things society?  I wonder what the secret handshake is...

  1. Don't know. I only used mine around the base of fruit trees.

If you need an extra set of hands tomorrow, let me know. I am game for driving up the hill, or meeting you some place. We're not getting this latest storm and the sun is shining.

I've never been close to a live chicken, just the dead ones for sale in the store. So, again, just got two hands, not any knowledge!

  2. Well, in your situation, it has everything to do with the fact that you are attaching it (the hardware cloth) to a non-flat (down-right ripply, matter of fact) surface (the faux logs on the playhouse). That's all. :)

I can't wait for pictures & your next post! I'm so excited for you!

  3. Kate - I ended up getting the birds a day early because the sellers had a schedule change. I'll hold you to that offer, and you can play with the chickens when I need help later in the year!

  4. sometimes when attaching something like that, if you use a small board (like a lathe) it will hold it down in a smoother way..maybe because it just follows the flatness of the board.
