Good News

I took Sparky to drop him off for surgery this morning. I had to wait and have a consultation with the surgeon, and, good thing, because she decided Sparky doesn't need surgery after all! Happiness.

Here's one of the apple trees this morning. It's much easier to see the apples now that most of the leaves are gone. I took the same picture a year ago. It's neat to start building a history here, even though it's still short. Last year there were more leaves at this time.

I have got to learn more about motors. I tried to take the ATV out on Sunday and it ran for about 2 minutes before shutting off. I couldn't get it started again, and now it's sitting on the path to upper blueberry hill, where it stopped. This is on top of the splitter and the weed whacker, which both broke under my care as well (after only a few months). I got the splitter fixed and the weed whacker is still out for repairs. If I'm going to own and use motorized things, I'll have to learn how to take care of them properly and how to do minor repairs. It's on the list.

  1. Do they have a meetup group for that?? no, i'm not making fun. I was reading Woman's Day at lunch and they offered some websites to save you time and money.. gives instructions for all kinds of things from haircuts to oil changes.
also shows household and other repairs and things from sewing machines to fishing poles...
haven't been there, but might be worth a try.
    So now what's Sparky doing?

  2. sorry, another thought. your local vo-tech (ours is BOCES) Rochester NY is WEMOCA or something like that...may offer some adult ed things like this..also a good place to meet people. Or we have Cornell Co-operative Extension office to ask -is anyone doing this type of thing?? And they sometimes know

  3. But, but, but . . . yeah! What about Sparky?!

  4. Yay for Sparky. I think. What's his prognosis now? Does he just have to take it easy for a while? Sounded like he was in a lot of pain. Did the vet give him a little cat girdle to help his hernia? What?

  5. Thanks for the suggestions Karen Sue! I work with lots of engineer types, so if I can get one of them to do me a HUGE favor, maybe I can get off easy. I think I'm genetically programmed to forget stuff like this, being a girl and all.

The doc says that she doesn't think Sparky has a hernia at all. She saw a bit of swelling on the xrays from Friday (between his back legs!!) that she didn't feel this morning. So she thinks he's getting better all by himself. I'm all for that!
